New Holland T6 Methane Power, The World’s First Tractor To Run 100% On Biomethane

Coldiretti has presented the first tractor powered by biomethane, a further step towards the energy transition that can reduce the environmental impact of agriculture.

Biomethane can play a fundamental role in the field of clean energy: from crop and livestock waste, it is possible to produce energy not only for agricultural use.

This tractor will make it possible to reduce the environmental impact of agriculture. The new biomethane tractor is part of Italy’s strategic plan for the development of renewable energy, which plans to pour 6,500 million cubic meters of biomethane into the network by 2030, thanks to the transformation of 65% of livestock waste into clean energy.

The New Holland T6 Methane Power is the first tractor in the world to run 100% on biomethane and can refuel directly from the gas network or from specific biomass stations, with the same power as diesel but with a 30% reduction in fuel costs. costs and a drastic reduction in emissions.

In fact, biomethane produces 99% fewer particles, reduces CO 2 emissions by 10% and total emissions by 80%, which makes it possible to achieve CO 2 emissions close to zero.

Clean energy from agricultural and livestock waste.

Starting from the use of agricultural and livestock waste, it is possible to build biomethane distribution plants to power not only agricultural machinery, but also buses, trucks and boats, as well as cars.

In this way it is possible to generate a virtuous circle of resource management, waste reduction, reduction of polluting emissions, creation of new jobs and development of scientific research on green fuels.
